MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – A man was killed Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on I-24 in Montgomery County.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, a 2000 Ford Focus was traveling westbound on I-24 near mile marker 13 in the left lane and attempted to merge into the right lane, when the driver noticed a second vehicle and attempted to avoid hitting it.
The driver over-corrected, sending the car off the road and into a spin. The vehicle then reentered the roadway and flipped multiple times.
Bobby N. Patton, 48, of Marion, Ky., the passenger in the Ford Focus, was killed in the crash. The driver of the vehicle was injured.
The crash led to major traffic delays and closures on I-24 for over two hours.
