The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) will conduct sobriety roadside safety checkpoints during the week of Friday, April 25 on Kraft St. in Montgomery County.
According to THP, impaired driving kills more than 16,000 people and injures 305,000 others every year in the U.S.
Troopers will target those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for other violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists. THP says sobriety checkpoints are highly visible and effective tools in the battle against impaired driving.
The Hopkinsville Police Department will conduct traffic safety checkpoints throughout the city during the night of Saturday, April 26 through early Sunday morning.
Officers will be enforcing laws related to operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, licensing of motor vehicles and operators, registration and insurance violations, seat belt and child restraint violations, and motor vehicle equipment violations.
