A $35K suite for your pet? Home builder goes to the dogs

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Yuppie puppies will feel right at home. Standard Pacific Homes is building houses that offer a pet suite as an option.

The company has 27 developments from Florida to California. The most upscale doggie digs include a step-in wash station, automatic feeder, large bunk-style bed and even a flat screen TV.

Company vice president Jeffrey Lake says pets are family.

Standard Pacific’s newest community is about 25 miles south of Los Angeles. Homes there start at $710,000. Lake says the pet spa option adds $35,000 to the price.
