Pop star Jessie J has revealed she suffered from a stroke when she was just 18-years-old.

The “Price Tag” hitmaker took the stage at the Delete Bone Cancer Gala in New York on Wednesday, and shocked guests with the news of her past health scare before she started performing.

She told the audience she had written her song “Who You Are” after she “had just had a minor stroke,” adding, “I thought that I was never going to get better.

“I feel so lucky that I was given a second chance at life, so every day when I am able to do this, you have no idea how amazing it feels that I’m so lucky to be onstage and singing and living my dream… I appreciate every day that I am able to live my dream.”

The 26-year-old, who was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome which can cause an irregular heartbeat, as a child then dedicated “Who Are You” to “anybody in this room who’s lost somebody to cancer.”

Models Coco Rocha, Doutzen Kroes and Georgia May Jagger, who was recently named the first Coty Global Ambassador in the fight against blood cancer, were also among in attendance at the charity gala.
