The Halftime show made this dad sad

This is from a daddy who is trying to raise and instill worth in a young girl who is facing a world that will devour her if she’s not properly equipped.  Did last night’s Super Bowl halftime show make you sad?

It did me.

This is how it played out in our house.  Moriah goes to bed around 7pm.  When she goes to bed we pray with her, read her a story, then she wants to cuddle some before going to sleep.

I LOVE this time of the day and will move heaven and earth to get to do that as much as I can.  Well, obviously, the halftime show was missed and had to check it out later.  I’m not even sure where to start with how saddened I was to see what was passed off for entertainment.

Crazy talented and gorgeous, but come on, do we need to sell your sexuality to prove you are a powerful woman?  I would be appalled if Moriah acted or dressed like that for millions of people to see.  Before you give me the whole, “you see worse than that at the beach” statement, you are right but that doesn’t make it ok, does it?

I want women to grow up knowing their worth and knowing they don’t have to dress like what we all saw on TV last night.  No, I’m not advocating women dress like nuns but I do think society could use a good dose of modesty.  Our language is more coarse, our attitudes are more self-focused, and our dress is less modest.

I saw a friend of mine post on Facebook with a pic of the halftime show on his TV and his boys who are 15 and 12 watching. The caption said, “the moment when my boys realized there’s more to life than toys.”

I have to tell you, that made me sad.  Just the very fact we allow so much to enter our homes we may not agree with but we say nothing.  In the end, I’m glad I missed the halftime show last night.
