CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A man was rescued Monday morning from a cell phone tower in Clarksville after passing out 150 feet up the air during a job test climb.

At 8:32 a.m. Monday, Clarksville Fire Rescue, Clarksville Police and EMS responded to the tower near Tylertown Road and Trenton Road to help assist the tower climbers with the rescue, according to CFR Assistant Fire Chief Michael Rios.

Rios said CFR let the tower climbers handle the rescue, while CFR assisted with the lay line and helping get the patient down.

The man was completing a tower climb when he went unconscious 150 feet in the air, Rios said. He was safely retrieved from the tower and transported to Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville for treatment.

“Thank goodness for safety harnesses, I mean he was strapped so he passed out and he didn’t go far,” Rios continued.

Clarksville Now has reached out to SBA Communications, who own the site and cell tower, for comment.

Correction: A previous version of this article stated that the tower was owned and operated by AT&T. The tower and its site is owned by SBA Communications, according to Jim Kimberly, director of corporate communications for AT&T. The article has been updated.
