NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – After surveying the damage, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville has confirmed that eight tornadoes touched down across Middle Tennessee during Monday night’s severe storms.

Multiple tornadoes struck Middle Tennessee after dark on November 5th-6th. Additional surveys will be conducted in the coming days to determine exactly how many tornadoes touched down with this event.

NWS said at this time, the EF-2 tornado that touched down in Christiana is the strongest tornado (135MPH) to strike Middle Tennessee since December 23, 2015, which was also a tornado event that occurred at night during Secondary Severe Weather Season.

A woman was killed and two others hurt due to storm-related injuries in Christiana. 41-year-old Angie Walker, wife of WGNS Radio President Scott Walker, was identified as the woman who was killed when her home on Midland Road collapsed.

In addition to the EF-2 tornado that struck Christiana, NWS survey crews found three EF-0s, one EF-1, and two EF-2s that affected Wayne, Lawrence, Grundy, Franklin, and White counties.

Specifics will be released later this afternoon after all of today’s surveys are complete.
