Update, 6 p.m.: Rossview is back open

Update, 5 p.m.: Traffic is back to normal on Interstate 24. Rossview Road remains backed up after the wreck at Cardinal Lane.

Update, 4:20 p.m.: Westbound traffic is backed up between Exits 4 and 1.

Eastbound traffic is mostly back to normal.

Update, 3:55 p.m.: Another Interstate 24 wreck, this one at Exit 1 in the westbound lanes, has traffic backed up almost to Exit 4.

Update, 3:45 p.m.: In what was likely spillover traffic from the interstate, a tractor-trailer has run off Rossview Road at Cardinal Lane.

“This has blocked the road and officers are having to direct traffic around it, and only one lane is open,” Gill said. “The public is requested to find alternate routes until the road is open. The road will have to be completely closed once a tow truck arrives.”

The interstate is back open, but congestion will continue, Gill said. Eastbound traffic is backed up past the state line into Kentucky, but it clears up at about Exit 4.

Update, 2:40 p.m.: The crash involved 11 vehicles, according to emergency officials.

Update, 2 p.m.: Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. CPD is assisting with traffic control.

“It will take time for the road to be cleared,” Gill said.
