A major oops!

Earlier this month, a gas station in Tennessee had its pumps programmed wrong, with a misplaced decimal. Instead of $4.49 per gallon, it was $0.449. A customer filled up his tank with 12-and-a-half gallons, and was only charged a TOTAL of $5.64.

The customer, Henry DeHart, says he went inside and alerted the owner . . . and he said the guy was “on the verge of tears,” because the price had been set like that for FIVE HOURS and no one told him.

Henry insisted on paying the full amount, and said it’s a shame that it took so long for someone to notify the guy . . . because gas station owners make a slim profit on gas sales, usually only about 10 to 15 cents a gallon.

It’s unclear how much the guy lost. For what it’s worth, Henry was buying PREMIUM gas.
