Disney is working on a movie musical based on the songs of Lionel Richie

Walt Disney Studios is working an original movie musical based on the songs of singer/songwriter/American Idol judge, Lionel Richie.

They have come up with a working title, “All Night Long,” the project will use some of the most influential Lionel songs!  They’ll use most of his greatest hits in a live-action project.  It’s still in the early stages of development.

Lionel will have a hand in producing the project with his manager and with Cavalry Media executives.  Screenwriter Pete Chiarelli, the guy responsible for Crazy Rich Asians and The Proposal, is currently at work on the script.

Richie, a judge role on Disney-owned ABC’s “American Idol,” sold the pitch to the studio in January. Lionel is represented by CAA and Red Light Management.

How about some Lionel today?
