Here’s an update on The Goonies Spinoff Series

Goonies Fans!  Are you ready for this? Its tough, but maybe Hollywood has run out of new ideas or they find 80’s and 90’s movies cinematic gold, hoping for lightning to strike twice on these golden originals.

There is a Variety interview with film producer with Fox and Paramount Gail Berman spoke a little on the Disney+ spinoff of 1985’s The Goonies that’s currently in the works. The Disney+ spinoff, now under the official title Our Time. The project will be a collaboration with Gail Berman, Amblin Entertainment and The Donner Company film producer Lauren Shuler Donner, the late director of The Goonies Richard Donner’s wife.

Originally the pilot for the series was written by Sarah Watson and then she pitched to Fox. The network passed on the pilot, claiming the show felt too young for their audience.  Finally, the project was taken on by Disney+.

The series being unveiled in a Friday Night Lights fashion could open the door to original cast members returning — though this is entirely speculative.

After his run on Netflix’s Stranger Things, it’s possible that Sean Astin would be willing to make a cameo, as well as Josh Brolin. Another possible cameo would be Ke Huy Quan, who portrayed Data in the original film.

No release date has been set for Our Time yet.
