Punky Brewster is coming back to TV

NBC Universal’s upcoming streaming service has officially given the thumbs up for a follow-up series to the classic sitcom Punky Brewster.  NBC Universal made announcement today (Thursday).

The new Punky Brewster will bring back the original series star Soleil Moon Frye as well as Cherie Johnson.  The plot of the new show…Punky is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track.  She meets a young girl named Izzy.  A young girl in the foster system who reminds Punky a lot of her younger self.

NBC Universal’s “Peacock” streaming service does not have a launch date at the time of this publishing but is expected to officially debut in April.
