Elton John filmed the “I’m Still Standing” music video, at Carlton Beach in Cannes, France 36 years ago. The video was directed by Russell Mulcahy in 1983.  Mulcahy and his camera fell into the ocean while they were on the beach’s pier, so the original film was almost a total loss.  After being re-scanned from the original negative, the footage was reconstructed from scratch, dirt was removed and color was restored.
