Studies say hot flashes could be linked to heart attacks and cognitive decline

This story really hit me…I started having hot flashes around 37.  My doctor couldn’t believe it.  She heard of going through it early but wow!  I was a healthy 37 year old female!  Besides when I came out of high school, I was in the best shape of my life!

You can feel hot flashes coming!  It starts at your toes and works its way up like a tidal wave moving through your body!  Before you know it, it’s too late, you are covered in sweat and can’t find relief anywhere…except sticking your head in a freezer!

This is hard news for women!  Science is discovering hot flashes are much more than just a sign of menopause…the frequency or severity may also be linked to heart problems, stroke and cognitive decline later in a woman’s life.  Hard to hear right??

A study found night sweats were linked to cognitive dysfunction in menopausal women, decreasing the ability to pay attention and perform higher-level thinking tasks.  The news just gets worse, right??  It goes on…the study also found a direct link between the frequency and persistence of hot flashes and cardiovascular events later in a woman’s life. And here’s EVEN MORE bad news: Another study found there’s even a link between childhood trauma and hot flash severity later in life.

I’m a little on the discouraged side, but doing all I can to not let this happen!  Did anybody else get hot flashes in their 30’s?
