That’s “Dr. Bon Jovi” now!

Jon Bon Jovi received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from the University of Pennsylvania on Monday during Penn’s 263rd Commencement at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

During the commencement, the musician—who was born just an hour away in Middlesex County, New Jersey—was commended for his musical success as well as his humanitarian efforts by university president Amy Gutmann. This isn’t the first time Bon Jovi has been honored by an educational institution. The singer received an honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Monmouth University in 2001.

Bon Jovi, was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year.
