The broom standing by itself? It’s a trick!

I’m sure you’ve seen the pics and videos, by now you’ve seen the latest craze that is really sweeping social media.
The videos and pictures show brooms that seem to stand up all by themselves.

Now, if we could just get it to sweep the floors that would be even more amazing!

This tweet caused the whole broom craze!

We couldn’t find anything on NASA’s social media pages or website to support this info.

But people latched onto this misinformation and ran wild with it!

Seems like fun to make a bunch of brooms stand by themselves!

Here’s where I get to bust your fun bubble!  (sorry)  Truth is, you can make a broom stand upright today and every other day of eternity!
It has nothing to do with the earth’s gravitational pull on a certain day. It also has nothing to do with the vernal equinox, another day of the year when this “magic” supposedly happens.
It has everything to do with balance.
The center of gravity is low on a broom, and rests directly over the bristles. Which means, if you can get the bristles positioned like a tripod, your broom will stand upright 365 days a year.
Here’s a video explaining it all.
