There is a new robocall scam out there! Protect yourself!!

Thousands of people all over the country are reportedly receiving calls from Sierra Leone and some caller identifications read “United States.”

The FCC says these scam robocalls are calling specific area codes in bursts and calling multiple times in the middle of the night.

DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER BACK!!!  The scammers are trying to bait you into to calling the number back, resulting in per minute toll charges.

The calls are mostly coming from 222 and 232 area codes which are from West Africa.

The FCC is calling it the “One Ring” scam, which happens when a robocaller calls a number and hangs up after a ring or two. They may call repeatedly, hoping you call back and run up a toll that mostly is paid to the scammer.
