Where does Tennessee rank in best states for marriage

A new study finds Tennessee is the No. 11 best state for marriage.

Love is making a comeback in the U.S. After hitting a record low during COVID-19, marriage rates rose to 6.2 marriages per 1,000 Americans in 2022 — the highest level since 2018 — according to CDC data released in March.

Tennessee ranks No. 11 with 7.3 marriages per 1,000 residents.

Grwn Diamonds today released a study on the Best and Worst States for Marriage after analyzing the most recent data in all 50 states and D.C. from the CDC and the Census Bureau.

Despite recent gains, U.S. marriage rates have declined steadily since 2000, increasing in only three places: D.C (+69.4%), Montana (+35.6%), and Connecticut (5.3%).

Marriage rates in Tennessee dropped 52.9% since the turn of the century when there were 15.5 marriages per 1,000 people.

Will the current marriage boom last? Only time will tell … but the 10 best places for marriage today are Nevada, Hawaii, Utah, Montana, D.C., Arkansas, Vermont, Maine, Colorado, and Idaho.
